Funeral and condolence flowers in Singapore: etiquette and tips to know

What is nature’s best way of expression? Flowers. For most people, flowers aren’t just an embodiment of Beauty; they are the epitome of expressions. Flowers showcase a bewildering range of hues that signify varied emotions. However, one of the lesser-known emotions reflected through flowers is grief when someone departs from this mortal world.

Sending flowers to a funeral is undoubtedly one of the best ways to let the grieving family know how much you cherished your bond with the deceased. If you find yourself wondering whether or not you should send flowers to a funeral, fret not, we’re here to answer all your questions related to condolence flower delivery in Singapore. Funeral norms have changed quite a bit over the last decade, with many people preferring to send money envelopes instead of flowers. In Japan, for example, Koden refers to money offered to the dead at their funeral. In Singapore, wreath flowers are still very much in demand. Here are some questions about funeral etiquette in Singapore –

Are funeral flowers and sympathy flowers the same?

Funeral flowers and sympathy flowers are sent with the same intention, to console the grief-stricken family of the deceased. But, funeral flowers serve the purpose of decoration and tribute at a funeral home. On the other hand, Sympathy flowers are sent directly to the office or house of the deceased. In either case, fresh flower delivery from Prince Flower Shop in Singapore can be a good choice.

When should a flower wreath in Singapore be delivered?

It’s best to order the wreath a day in advance to avoid any delay. If you’re sending it to a church or a funeral home, you can schedule the delivery with the florist. Many florists do same-day delivery, but better safe than sorry. Condolences in Singapore are generally expressed with flowers, but it might be appropriate to ask the church beforehand how they’d like to receive the flowers.

Which funeral wreath in Singapore is the most popular?

The most appropriate condolence wreath in Singapore is the one that is adorned with the favourite colours of the deceased. Alternatively, you can go with white. Lilies and carnations remain the top favourite. Beautiful red roses can be used, too.

Among all funeral flowers in Singapore, which flower is most widely used by Christians?

Singapore is a multi-religious city-state where Christians constitute 19% of the population. Just like other communities, they have their distinct funeral rituals. If we’re talking about wreaths in Singapore, carnations have remained popular from the get-go. Christians prefer pink carnations the most. White carnations signify innocence and the red ones symbolize love & passion. You can ask your florist to customize an appropriate flower arrangement for you.

The death of a loved one can take a toll on one’s well-being. Flowers are a subtle way to light up somebody’s face, even for a short while. We hope these FAQs help you make the right call.

First visit to the nursery earlier today and I must say I’m extremely pleased with the service and product I received! Beautiful fresh flowers at a reasonable price! Didn’t manage to catch the name of the lady (thin frame with short hair) who served me but she was super friendly and helpful in helping me pick out a bouquet for my friend’s graduation 👍🏼 Even suggested a shady spot for me to sit while I wait for the arrangement to be ready. Prince definitely got themselves a returning customer x
